Hey David, thanks for this post. As someone who preaches regularly, and trains others in preaching, I found much of what you said accurate and helpful. Couldn't agree more that a sermon is never done. Everything is a rough draft, but as you said that helps us depend upon the Lord and drives us to prayer.

Do you have any advice for how to work faster in sermon prep? I often find myself up against the clock (I know a sermon will take whatever time you give it) even without being a perfectionist.

Such a well-needed word. Thank you! There's definitely a sweet spot between being prepared and being overprepared.
