Hey David, thanks for this post. As someone who preaches regularly, and trains others in preaching, I found much of what you said accurate and helpful. Couldn't agree more that a sermon is never done. Everything is a rough draft, but as you said that helps us depend upon the Lord and drives us to prayer.
Do you have any advice for how to work faster in sermon prep? I often find myself up against the clock (I know a sermon will take whatever time you give it) even without being a perfectionist.

Hi Darren. Thank you for your comment. I have two other posts that might be helpful. The first one is "How I Use Dictation Software to Increase Personal and Pastoral Productivity," which you can check out here: https://www.pastorsandproductivity.com/p/how-i-use-dictation-software-to-increase
And the second post is: "10 Time Management Tips for Sermon Preparation," which you can check out here: https://www.pastorsandproductivity.com/p/10-time-management-tips-for-sermon

Yes! What a timely word for me on the last day of the year. I’m going to save this one to read throughout the year as a reminder!
Such a well-needed word. Thank you! There's definitely a sweet spot between being prepared and being overprepared.
